ICC Iraq The Iraqi National Committee of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC Iraq) proudly participated in ICC Week in Paris, the annual global gathering of more than 60 national committees from around the world, aimed at fostering international trade cooperation and advancing business governance on a global scale. Representing Iraq at the event were: Ahmed Al-Yasiri – Secretary General of ICC Iraq Ahmed Al-Hankawi – Rapporteur of the Arbitration and Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee ADR at ICC Iraq Sahar Al-Helou – International Coordinator of ICC Iraq In a milestone achievement, ICC Iraq was honored with the ICC – NC Star Award, which recognizes the best-performing national committees worldwide. This recognition came as a result of the effective and successful implementation of the 2024–2025 annual plan, showcasing Iraq’s growing commitment to strengthening its global presence in trade and arbitration. On the sidelines of the event, ICC Iraq also celebrated the first anniversary of Iraq’s official accession to the International Chamber of Commerce a significant step in building strategic partnerships and fostering a more robust business environment in Iraq.

Tax Announcement
Tax Extension Announcement General Commission of Taxes – #Iraq announced a One-Month extension of the deadline for submitting the financial reports and statements for fiscal year 2024 for natural and legal persons, ending on 30 June 2025. Therefore, income taxpayers should follow up with the Tax authorities to complete their tax accounting before the expiration the deadline to avoid imposed fines under Article 56/4 of the Income Tax Law.

Discussed Topics: Importance of IP protection and its economic role in supporting innovation, investment How the protection of #trademarks, #patents, #copyright contributes to strengthening the economy Iraq’s ongoing efforts to avoid being included on T301 list of countries violating IP rights and to operate in accordance with international standards Cooperation with Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to develop a university curriculum on intellectual property rights protection as part of the requirements for accession to the #WorldTradeOrganization. Need to expedite the enactment of an IP law, intensify awareness campaigns, and facilitate registration procedures. IP protection has a significant impact on enhancing the business environment and stimulating innovation, as it contributes to attracting investment and achieving economic progress. The implementation of IP protection laws also contributes to the development of local industries and protects creators from infringement of their rights
