Role of Commercial Arbitration Etihad had the honor of participating in a high-level meeting hosted by the Private Sector Development Directorate at the Ministry of Trade, focused on The Role of Commercial Arbitration in Investment and Trade Contracts. The meeting was attended by distinguished legal and investment experts, including the Deputy President of the State Council, ICC Iraq Chair, and representatives from the National Investment Commission and the Federation of Iraqi Chambers of Commerce. As the Secretary of the ICC Iraq National Committee for Arbitration and Dispute Resolution, and a national expert at the Iraqi Chambers of Commerce Federation, I emphasized the strategic importance of arbitration as an effective dispute resolution tool that strengthens investor confidence in Iraq’s legal environment. Key recommendations included: Precise legal drafting of arbitration clauses in investment contracts Training and qualification of national professionals in arbitration Promoting awareness of the Singapore Convention on Mediation Supporting mediation as a complementary dispute resolution method Holding a specialized workshop for government ministries contracting with foreign entities Towards a transparent and secure investment climate,And a strong national arbitration system.
